About Irene Butcher:

Landscape painter and printmaker, Irene has been exhibiting and selling her works of art for over thirty years mainly in London.
Attended "Ravensbourne College of Art and Design"  in the late 1970's .Other courses include; oil painting and life drawing at Sidcup Art Center and also Hampstead School of Art under artist and tutor David Cuthbert and Printmaking with Theresa Pateman [who is part of the Southbank Printmakers].

Most of her inspiration comes from the elements and moods whilst on a walk along a windswept beach in South Wales or a rugged coastal path with it's variety of textures and atmosphere, or even the landscape  and natural wildlife found in and  around London especially it's wonderful green spaces such as Hampstead Heath or Epping Forest. There are many interesting corners to be found in the city and some in the most unlikely places; such as hidden gardens or Victorian cemeteries , where weeds and trees meet urban decay and the footsteps of the past are echoes found broken and mingling with nature .
